In honor of Black History Month, the FSD Collective hosted two Woodcrest Elementary School teachers, Susie Wren & Leanna Pionke, who shared examples of their approach to teaching about social justice – and Black history – in grades K-6.

In this interactive workshop, parents & teachers talked about what “social justice” means to them, developmentally appropriate strategies for promoting equity and fostering critical thinking, and how to support our schools in preparing all FSD students to value their own identities, celebrate the diversity of our community, and work together to promote justice for all.
